The White Lake

Jolon arrived with her wooden bows and arrows. She climbed in a tree and waited for Lexi.

Lexi soon arrived behind her.. Smiling boldly she looked up at the tree. "So, Jolon.. can you do it?" she smirked.

Jolon turned her head her freckles and ginger and brown colored hair shining in the sunlight. She had changed on the way into her hide dress and hide leggings that she was accustomed to hunt with. She tilted her head "do what" she said.

"live without your precious electricity" she smirked playfully and leaned forward, eyeing you.. "hey, wanna swim?"

Jolon laughed "I never had electricity, my grandfather hated it and I obeyed his wish. The only thing we use is fire for light and lanterns in our room. My grandfathers last 5 wishes was for us to live with out electricity" she said with a shrug and looked around and spotted a large rabbit. She looked at her and pointed at the rabbit. She jumped of the tree with slick movements. She pulled her bow back which was loaded with a arrow. She pulled it back and it shot at the rabbit hitting it in the head. She ran over and pulled another arrow stabbing it one more time and it was dead.

She rolled her eyes. "mmm. oh alright." she folded her arms and watched her friend.. laughing "I asked you a question you dolt" she scoffed playfully, her eyes wondered around the clearing, scanning the lake.. A beautiful appaloosa mare came into view, it appeared to be wild, with no rider or anything the mare stopped once she caught sight of the two people, pausing in its stride she whinnied loudly and reared up

"Look at that" Lexi's eyes grew with amazement, "she's beautiful.." she gawked at the horse.

Jolon nodded and walked over dropping her weapons. She put her hand out for the horse to touch it. The horse was beautiful and she was in love.

The mare bobbed her head up, eyes wide and flaring.. -The sound of a voice stopped the horse from rearing up again. "High-Steps".

Lexi looked around catching sight of a young girl, no older then sixteen years old.. "Hello?" her head tilted to the side, she had never seen this girl or the horse for that matter.

Jolon the half hopi turned her head. She saw the girl "hello my name is Jolon and yours" she said fixing her hide skin dress and leggings. She picked her bow back up and looked at her and the horse.

The horse immediately turned and went over to the girl.. "Hello, I'm sorry for her, she's very spirited." she stroked the horses neck.. "I'm Chilam.. It's a pleasure to meet you"

Lexi smiled "I'm Lexi, your new here, aren't you?"

Jolon nodded "yes I have a horse the same" she said and then smiled "and a pleasure to meet you, excuse me I have to go pick up my kill" she said picking the rabbit up and taking out her knife she had made. She skinned it and took the necasarry meats out. She came back after washing her hands in the lake. She watched the horse with a awe expression.

Chilam looked from the girls to the horse. "Where do you guys live?" she asked, the horse nudging her with its nose..

Lexi "I live at the ranch house up there, its where I work with horses at."
Xesus's looked up, tossing his mane neighing loudly as if saying 'pay attention to me'

Jolon laughed "in me and my fathers teepe like house all the way up there" she said pointing past Lexis house. Hopi whined and Jolon huffed bringing her over "see this is her horse Hopi ok" she said patting the white and dark brown paints nose.

Chilam smiled at the horse. "Oh, I've just moved into the wooden cabin at the ranch with my grandfather,"

lexi "really?.. Does that mean your horse will be staying to?"

Chilam's head tilted to the side but she nodded. "of course."

Jolon nodded "you should go riding with us sometime that would be fun" she said and laughed as Hopi nudged her chest making her stumble back a bit. She petted her neck and face to keep her happy.

Xesus snorted and stomped his hoof, eyes flaring he watched the new mare.. -he didn't like her, she was causing his pet(Lexi)'s attention to be torn from him.



Chilam hesitated at first but nodded. "What are you doing out here?" she asked as she gave High-steps a kiss on the neck.

Jolon smiled "oh we are going to see if we can survive this whole week with nothing but nature and our horses and no saddle bridal or reins. Not that I ride with them anyway" she said and pulled her long ginger brown hair into a long braid.

Lexi frowned "you are such a liar, just a moment ago you had them on Hopi" she crossed her arms watching her friend with her soft eyes.

Xesus snorted in laughter, giving Hopi a look, his tail flicking back and forth.

Giving a weak smile she stepped back faintly. ""what do you mean live without nothing but nature?" her eyes darted from lexi to jolon.

Lexi "we aren't going to live in our houses or use the gas or saddles or bridles.."

Chilam gave both of them a confused look.. 'Doesn't most everyone live without this? I know some have technology." she gave High-steps a look who shook its head as in saying it didn't know what they were talking about..

Jolon nodded "yeah we do but like she has to catch her own food, my father makes me and no I didn't know if you would so I wanted it to be fair" she said. Hopi whined and walked over to Xesus and rubbed against him lightly.

she scoffed "you know I never use a saddle, how long have you known me Jolon?" her voice had a soft teasing tone to it.

High-step's whined and began to toss her mane back as she heard the girls starting to 'bicker'
chilam hushed the mare with a soft silent whisper of gentle words.

Xesus nudged her back.

Jolon laughed "I don't know you could've gotten a cell phone when I left for my trip" she said. Hopi whined in happiness and bit his mane with a happy tone and jumped in front of him.

She shuddered "Oh the thought' she began to crack up..

"have you guys known each other long?" Chilam watched with interest.. living with her grandfather meant certain things.. she was to have an arranged marriage with a man her grandfather approved of.. She bit down onto her lip with curiosity..

Jolon laughed and looked at Chilam "yes and I already consider you as a friend" she said and stretched her arms. She whistled for Hopi and heard her whine as she played with Xesus "looks like someone has a crush" she said watching them play.

Xesus chewed upon her mane, nickering softly in her ear.

lexi laughed.
Chilam smiled "horses are more expressive then people I would say" she giggled softly at the horses affections.

High-steps nodded with agreement, neighing loudly,

Hopi laughed and chewed his mane. Jolon laughed as the horse neighed when they talked. She looked at Chilam "yeah I agree" she chuckled. (do you mind if I bring Hototo in)
