Elijah Thomas Wolver was born on a rainy October morning in Wolfcreek, England with a strange birthmark on his right wrist. He was a large, healthy baby boy weighing almost 10 pounds spite being born a month early which was much of a  surprise to his parents, Lila and Leidolf Wolver, who had never plans for children.  Eli grew up in a small, rundown house on the edge of Wolfcreek’s thick woodlands, where it was rumored to hold a pack of wolves - known to kill anyone who trespassed into their territory, but that never stopped Eli  or any of the loyal children from daring each other to enter the woods.

Eli’s father, Leidolf, jumped from one job to another, trying to support his new family and make ends meet, but he couldn't seem to hold down work for long, always coming home in fits of rage and drunkenness, spending what little money he did make on betting slips and alcohol, which left the Wolver family extremely poor, and barely able to make rent payments. It was often Eli who bore the brunt of his father’s rage, hiding broken bones and bruises for most of his young life. Never knowing that most fathers did not beat their children.
A few years after Eli’s birth, Lila Wolver gave birth to another baby boy bearing the name of Thomas Wolver and the family’s fragile balance shattered. Feeding three mouths was already taxing on the small family and adding a fourth was nearly impossible, which only increased Leidolf’s rage towards his  elder son. A year after Thomas’ birth, Jon’s mother Lila grew ill with an violent unknown sickness and passed away suddenly, leaving the young children in the care of their abusive father. Eli was not a normal child, he grew quicker than other boys and his strength surpassed children twice his age.

It wasn't long before Eli’s father escalated, it was a late Saturday night when Leidolf came home reeking with the scent of alcohol.  It started as it normally does, a ten year old Eli hiding Thomas under the bed as harsh screams follow them up the stairs, trailed by the pounding on the door.  It was a young boy standing still as fists met his face and as nails tore permanent scars on his back.  What made this time different, was Eli.  The young boy had bottled so much hurt and anger inside of him that as he lay bleeding on a stone cold floor, he found he had enough.  New strength ran in his veins and he could feel a kind of presence in his mind, like he wasn't totally alone.  Rising to his feet, Eli launched at his father, ranking elongated nails across his cheek before Eli’s body melted into one of a dark furred wolf.  Not in control of his own body anymore, Eli’s wolf ran free as he carried them out of the house and into the safely of the woods.  This was the first time Eli Traded Skins.

Eli fled into the night, but being young and naïve he had no idea how to survive on his own. Once he was on the brink of death, Eli’s wolf stirred inside of him, telling him where to get food, where the best shelter was, and how to stay hidden. On Eli’s 11th birthday after days of a severe fever he willing shifted for the first time. It felt like he was being pushed from his own mind, his thoughts becoming more feral, and wolf like. He couldn’t control his body, it was like he was in some kind of dream but he could still remember his human side.

A few days later Eli, in human form, found his way back to the house, his intention was to take his brother and run away for good. But what he found inside was something that forever haunts Eli. Thomas, who wasn’t more than eight at the time, was sitting in a dog crate, covered in the dark bruises that Eli had spent all that time trying to prevent.  But before Eli could do anything to save Thomas, Eli’s father came up behind and knocked Eli out. When he awoke, it was to find himself in a similar cage to Thomas. In order to protect his younger brother, Eli formed a deal with Leidolf. This deal was that Eli was forced to fight in dog fighting while in wolf form to help Leidolf get money.
